So this is 25, huh?

Friends, Romans, countrymen: Thanks for the well wishes, the gifts (Carrie -- two packages came today with no note ... I know it was you, girl.), and all the love. I've been really self-pitying recently, and unnecessarily at that. You guys remind me that I've got plenty about which to be happy.

That said, I'm trying to recover from Matt throwing The Little Green Book across the room. I'm mortified. I think he's drunk, or just mean. Either way, I'm going to go try to relax by watching a very special movie (Mmmmmm).

Love and joy, folks.

Me? Packages? Little green men sent those things, I tell ya...little itty-bitty green men...

Oh yeah, and the little green book is sacred. No throwing, or there will be a seven year curse to follow in which one will be unable to read, write, or basically do anything intelligent. :)

Well, considering it took me seven years to fill, that seems like a fair estimate of the grudge I'd carry.

It's not the book itself. It's that it represents a long time of discovery and "growing up." And there's another reason I'm so protective of it. When I was in high school, a guy I loved -- and who I thought loved me -- destroyed months of my writings. It was devastating, and I don't really bring it up anymore. Still, the thought of it happening again kills me.

Believe me, I totally understand you being protective of it...and I know about the incident you are referring to, so don't worry about dredging it up. As a writer, there is nothing worse I can think of than someone ruining the years of writing I have myself, and I don't know WHAT I'd do if someone messed with it.
