For those about to rock, we salute you

Paul and I like to play this game when we're in the car. It's called "Kate's Got the iPod and Paul Doesn't." Okay, on second thought, I guess he's not terribly fond of this game, but we play anyway. :)

There are three rounds to KGtiPaPD:
(1.) What song is this?
(2.) Who sings it?
(3.) What year did it come out?

Surprisingly, he's pretty good at it, although tonight I stumped him with some crazy Queen covers by The Flaming Lips ("Bohemian Rhapsody") and Gavin DeGraw ("We Are the Champions"). Next, I chose "Hangin' Tough" (New Kids on the Block, 1989). He correctly named the song and artist, but was off on the date by three years. He said 1992.

After yapping about New Kids' overuse of synthesizers and how it "hurt his ears," I obliged his request for me to pick another song.

Me: What song is this?
Paul: I don't know.
Me: Well, who sings it?
Paul: The Ramones.
Me: You sure?
Paul: Yeah.

Nope. It was a song called "Addiction" written by monstee. Hee hee. Hope he doesn't mind me bragging on him a bit. (If he does, I'll edit the post. ::grins::) And I do believe the Ramones comparison the highest compliment Paul could pay him. :)

i HATE HATE HATE gavin degraw's blasphemous rendition of we are the champions. ugh

also, i swear to god i was going to say 89 for hangin tough, but i just could believe myself that it was a late 80s song.

also, i NEVER have control of the ipod, because you never like what i pick. rob zombie and metallica make you anxious when you drive. (compared to me, where it relaxes me :))

also, monstee's song wasnt half bad, and it did sound like the ramones. but im not a big fan of them, i only like some songs by them.

also, joey ramone was an ugly fucker.

WTF? MONSTEE WRITES SONGS?? As usual, I am out of the loop.

You leave Joey Ramone out of this.

PS-I heart the flaming lips.

PPS-I love the Ramones!

PPPS-Sorry, I'm a little drunk.

I'm always amazed of what I find when I google my own name...

Sorry to hear the music makes you anxious when you drive, but I'm glad to be in the some company as Metallica.

I agree with angrygrrface (love that handle btw), leave Joey alone. The beauty of his soul made him better looking than a lot of ugly fuckers I know.

I need to check out this monstee's music. I'm a Ramones fan from way back!

Later >;}

Aww, if only the *real* Rob Zombie would grace my blog! :D

Once upon a time, I was a writer (no, really!), and I would have given anything to interview him. Hell, I'd STILL give anything to interview him. He's a very interesting guy (details here).

I did get to interview another one of my entertainment heroes, Scott Innes. Scott has been voicing Scooby-Doo, Scrappy-Doo and Shaggy since Don Messick passed away in 1997. He was kind enough to grant me a one-on-one in 2002 for a cartoon Web site. It's still floating around the 'Net if you want to look for it.

Better yet, I think I'll just post the interview sometime. ^_^
