A new breed of D'oh!

Dad's Botti incident is matched only by my own language-bungling moment this week.

Paul and I were racing into Petco -- not the one with the moth-riddled bagged food, mind you -- five minutes before they closed. While Paul was paying for the kitty litter and a few "special occasion" cans of Fancy Feast, I wandered over to a table of after-Christmas clearance merchandise.

Right there in the middle was a jigsaw puzzle of an ugly little dog. I glanced at the box title. At first I thought it said SHAR PEI PUZZLE, but it wasn't a picture of a shar pei. It looked more like a small bulldog or something. I looked at the title again. SHA PED PUZZLE. I've never heard of a Sha Ped, I thought. It sure looks like a bulldog. Shrugging, I joined Paul at the register.

A full minute later, as I'm walking out of the store, it dawns on me. The box said SHAPED PUZZLE, which makes a lot more sense. What can I say? It was late at night. :-)
